Southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas are locked into a dangerous, extended heat wave, with highs holding near or above 100 degrees through the middle of next week — broken only by a Friday system that drops temperatures into the low 90s and brings the best rain chance of the stretch.

We had a great meeting last week with Doug Linehan, the executive director of the Oklahoma Tax Commission. We had 28 attendees. He spent more than an hour speaking and answering questions from individuals about their taxes and returns and from tax preparers. He explained where the agency was when he took the job as director, where they are now and where he hopes to go in the future.
