Southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas are settling into a hot, mostly dry pattern heading into the middle of August, with highs climbing into the upper 90s and eventually crossing the 100-degree mark by midweek. Rain chances stay low throughout the stretch, and residents should prepare for extended heat advisory conditions as the week progresses.
State Treasurer Todd Russ released the July 2026 State Tax Revenue Report, showing total monthly revenue of $1.5 billion, a 2.6 percent increase from July 2025. Over the last 12 months, Oklahoma revenues totaled $17.95 billion, up $977.5 million, or 5.8 percent year-over-year, underscoring continued resilience in the state’s diversified revenue base.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Robert William Rainford, age 51, of Muskogee, entered a guilty plea to one count of Second-Degree Murder in Indian Country, punishable by imprisonment for a period of any term of years and up to life, and a $250,000 fine.
