Heavener and Vian split games

Heavener and Vian split a pair of Black Diamond Conference basketball games to get the 2026 portion of the schedule started Saturday.

The Lady Wolves built a big lead, fought off a challenge and pulled away late for a 65-44 win. Vian’s boys also built a 17-point lead in the third quarter before hitting 4-4 free throws while Heavener missed four straight free throws to allow the Wolverines to hold on for a 56-50 victory.

Heavener goes to Sallisaw Tuesday for a non-conference game. The Lady Wolves improve to 5-4 while the Wolves are 4-5. Vian’s girls are 0-2 and the boys are 1-1 after getting off to a late start because of playing in the state championship football game for Class 2A-II.
