Feeder steer and heifer prices pushed higher at auction barns across Oklahoma this week, with Tulsa Livestock reporting steers up 15 to 20 dollars and Apache Livestock and the Oklahoma National Stockyards posting similar gains, even as the state’s drought deepened — the Oklahoma Mesonet now shows more than 40 percent of Oklahoma in extreme drought and hay producers scrambling to keep up with demand.

As we move through fall 2026 and look ahead toward winter and spring 2027, severe weather will remain something to watch across Heavener and LeFlore County. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are all possible during this period. While spring remains the traditional focus for severe weather in eastern Oklahoma, strong storm systems can also produce severe thunderstorms during the fall and winter months.
