Bobby Joe Irvin obituary

Bobby Joe Irvin of Broken Arrow (formerly of Poteau) was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Poteau to Willie Ray and Hazel Pauline (Crenshaw) Irvin and passed away Nov. 22, 2025, in Tulsa at the age of 86. 

Bobby’s funeral services is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel in Poteau with Pastor Kelly Chronister officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery,  under the care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center of Poteau.   

Bobby was a longtime resident of the area and was a retired teacher and coach. He was a devout member of South Broken Arrow Baptist Church. Bobby was a quiet, kind, and very loving man. His absence will leave a significant void in the lives of all who knew him. Bobby loved watching college sports, especially OU and he attended the Broken Arrow Senior Activities Center.  He valued time spent with family and friends. Bobby will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. 

Survivors are one daughter, Bobbie Irvin of Tahlequah; one son, Michael Irvin of Broken Arrow; his grandchildren Crystal Duncan of Stilwell, Christopher Duncan of Stilwell, Daniel Duncan of Stilwell, Tracy Duncan of Stilwell and Mason Ray of Wagoner; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous other loved ones and friends. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Willie Ray and Hazel Pauline Irvin; one brother, Donald Ray Irvin; and a sister, Janetta Sue Burlew. 

Pallbearers will be his family.  

The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel in Poteau.
