Cameron man sentenced to life in prison

Austin James Johnson of Cameron was found guilty of one county of manslaughter in the death by Tara Strozier of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Johnson had previously entered a plea of guilty in the case and is sentenced to life in  prison under the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Three men were arrested in the murder of Strozier after her body was found in a pond near Rock Island.

After Strozier was declared missing, a black Volkswagon Jetta was found in a private drive in Cameron. The LeFlore County Sheriff’s office requested investigative assistance by the OSBI.

Based on the joint investigation, authorities believe Strozier was tortured at an unoccupied mobile home off Neblett Ridge Rod in Cameron before being murdered by the pond near Rock Island.

Also arrested were Alex Nathaniel Davis and Kaelin Hutchinson. David had previously admitted to killing Strozier while Johnson was present. After she was killed, they weighted down her body and threw her into the pond.
