Celebration of life service for Colby Kanton Cornell set

Celebration of life service for Colby Kanton Cornell, 30, is Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center Chapel in Poteau with Randy Mattox officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Pauls Valley, under the care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center in Poteau.

Colby was born to Mark Cornell and Kolinda Cornell on April 28, 1995 in Pauls Valley. He passed away Jan. 16, 2026 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Known by some family members as “Colbis”, he spent his younger years in Pauls Valley before his family re-located to Poteau. He attended Howe High School.

Colby’s pride and joy was his children. They were the most important thing in his life and he loved spending time with them.

Colby will be remembered for his big heart and zest for life. He would do anything for anybody. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, 4-wheelers, working on cars, hunting, fishing, tattooing, and anything fast. He basically loved doing everything.

He is survived by a daughter, Kenslie Cornell, of Poteau; one son, Kolby Cornell, of Poteau;  his father: Mark Cornell and Paige (Weaver) Cornell of Poteau; his mother, Kolinda Cornell, of Poteau; one siste: Krystal Stockton and husband Clint of Wister; his nephews and niece  Kanton Amos, Colten Amos, Kase Stockton, and Kimberlyn Stockton all of Wister; his grandparents Deloros and Mel Jones of Poteau; his uncles and aunt Kent Cornell of Sulphur, Scott Cornell of Pauls Valley,  and Angie Mariano of Bristow; numerous cousins and many friends

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Trish Cornell of Pauls Valley.

Pallbearers are Mark Cornell, Kent Cornell, Scott Cornell, Jered White, Kanton Amos,and Colton Amos.

Viewing is from noon until 6 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center in Poteau.
