The win advances the Heavener team to the area tournament later in the year… The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Armondo Joseph Palma, 22, and Brooklyn Elaine Wilson, 27, of Howe entered guilty pleas related to the sexual abuse of a minor… LeFlore County football teams went 2-2 Friday night in the opening round of the high school playoffs. Pocola and Talihina stayed alive with wins while Panama and Poteau were eliminated.

A kiln for drying the cut wood will be in operation in a few days…A Swedish researcher with the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh is in Heavener to study the Runestone…The Patio Drive-in will serve a Thanksgiving Day dinner…Fred Addison asks in “Available’s Ad” how the city charges 38 cents per 1,000 gallons to sell it, but it costs 42 cents per 1,000 gallons to produce it…Wright’s Dairy, serving Heavener since 1932, will bring to your home for 18 cents per quart…Thanksgiving Day dinner is $1.25 at the Hub Café.

1955—Utah man has been jailed after passing a bad check at Ward’s Boat Dock in Wister. Further investigation showed the man was also wanted in Texas, Arkansas, Colorado and Utah…Santa will visit Heavener on Dec. 7 this year…Report cards were issued by Heavener Schools Wednesday afternoon…Heavener Schools will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 3 for Christmas break…See the 1956 Ford station wagon line at Westmoreland Motor Co. in Heavener…Remember home town bread and cakes from Heavener Bakery.

1935—Three auto accidents occurred within three hours and three miles on the Waldron Highway Sunday morning. One Waldron man died in one of the accidents…The Heavener High School band will present Power Puff Minstral at the Liberty Theater…Heavener Lions Club was feted to a sample of the program during their regular meeting Monday…Heavener is expected to receive $40,000 for improvements at the airport.
100 YEARS AGO
1925—New road between Heavener and Fort Smith, Arkansas is proving to be very dangerous. On Saturday night, there were reports of five cars overturned…Hundreds of accidents have occurred, causing much injury and death…A huge banquet was held in the Burns Hall in Heavener prior to Heavener’s football game with Poteau…Heavener Auto Sales Company has a used Ford touring car for sale for $75.
