Hatsue Thompson celebration of life planned

Hatsue Thompson, 94, of Poteau passed away Nov. 17, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on April 10, 1931, in the Asato area of Nakagusuku Village, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, to Megumi and Kamesho Arakaki.

A Celebration of Life is 11 a.m. Thursday at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with Jim Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Cauthron Cemetery in Cauthron, Arkansas, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Survivors are her children Fred Thompson and wife Leatha, Doyle Thompson and wife Sammie, Hoyt Thompson, Janelle Arrowfeather and husband Rick, and Hal Thompson and wife Lucky; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her brother, Hidemasa Arakaki; sister, Mieko Tamashiro; and a host of other relatives, friends, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Thompson; her parents; her brothers Hideo and Hidenobu Arakaki; and her sister, Fumi Arakaki. 

Pallbearers are Gerald Thompson, Billie Thompson, Zane Thompson, Alex Thompson, Jeffery Martin and Bryan Martin.
