Heavener wins twice at LeFlore Tournament

Heavener wins a pair of games in the LeFlore fast pitch softball tournament Thursday to advance to the winner’s bracket finals at 5:30 p.m. Friday against Antlers.

With the two wins, Heavener improves to 3-1. Antlers had a bye and defeated Cameron, 7-6, also Thursday to advance.

After Heavener bashed Gans, 14-2, in the first game, the Lady Wolves took the second game with a 4-0 win over Smithville as Kristy Shadwick threw a one-hitter.

Shadwick struck out five and walked three.

Heavener only managed four hits with Shadwick going 2-3 with a RBI while Anistyn Cartwright also was 2-3 with a run scored.

In the opener against Gans, Heavener only led 1-0 through two innings. After Gans scored twice in the top of the third, the Lady Wolves answered with 13 runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Shadwick also was the winning pitcher against Gans, going all three innings, allowing only one hits and the two runs, none earned with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Shadwick was 2-3 at the plate with four RBI and a run, Kaitlin Hurst was 2-2 with three runs scored and Ember Stacy finished 2-2 with one RBI and one run scored.
