FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks began their season with a 52-7 victory over the Alabama A&M Bulldogs on Saturday at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green tied for the second-most scoring passes in a single game in school history with six touchdowns, leading the Razorbacks’ offense.

Arkansas gained 552 total yards, with 358 yards coming from the passing game. The Razorbacks recorded 29 first downs and converted on 9 of 14 third-down opportunities. Green completed 24 of 31 passes for 322 yards and six touchdowns. His replacement, KJ Jackson, went 2 for 4 with 36 yards and one touchdown.

The scoring started on Arkansas’s first possession when Green connected with CJ Brown for a 16-yard touchdown pass. Alabama A&M responded on its next drive with a 75-yard drive, culminating in a 6-yard rushing touchdown by Maurice Edwards IV, tying the game at 7. This was Alabama A&M’s only touchdown of the game.

Arkansas regained the lead with a 53-yard field goal by Scott Starzyk. From that point, the Razorbacks’ offense scored on six consecutive possessions. Green distributed his scoring passes to five different receivers. Brown caught two touchdowns, while O’Mega Blake, Raylen Sharpe, Andreas Paaske, and Jalen Brown each had one. Blake was the top receiver with seven catches for 121 yards.

The Arkansas defense held the Bulldogs to 235 total yards, including 69 net rushing yards. Alabama A&M quarterback Cornelious Brown IV completed 9 of 19 passes for 130 yards. The Bulldogs’ offense picked up 12 total first downs and converted on only 1 of 12 third-down attempts.

Defensively, Arkansas logged two sacks and limited Alabama A&M’s offensive output after the initial drive. The Razorbacks’ victory improves their record in home openers to 107-21-4 all-time. The game marked the debut for Alabama A&M head coach Sam Shade, and the Bulldogs fell to 0-6 all-time against SEC opponents. Arkansas’s rushing attack was led by Mike Washington Jr. who had 79 yards on nine carries. The team’s overall rushing statistics showed 194 yards on 40 attempts.
