Howe moves into the Class 2A state fast pitch softball championship game with a 5-2 win over Preston Friday.

The Lady Lions play Oktaha, a 1-0 winner over Pocola in the other semifinal game, in Saturday’s championship game at noon.

Friday was the second straight day Howe overcame a higher ranked seed over beating top-ranked Dale in a quarterfinal game Thursday.

The Lady Lions improve to 22-13 with the win. Fourth-ranked Preston ends its season at 29-8.

Oktaha, now 33-4 and ranked third, advanced with the 16-inning win over second-ranked Pocola in the other semifinal. The Lady Indians had nine hits compared to six for Oktaha, but also had seven errors while Oktaha had only four miscues.

In Howe’s win over Preston, the Lady Lions scored the first three runs before Preston answered with a pair of runs in the sixth. Howe added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Lexi Scarberry led Howe by going 4-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Kaydence Delt had another big game for the Lady Lions on the mound, going the distance while allowing five hits, two earned runs, 10 strikeouts and three walks.
