National Weather Service issues extreme cold warning

The National weather Service in Tulsa has issued an extreme cold warning for the following counties in Oklahoma: Nowata, Craig, Ottawa, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Delaware, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Cherokee, Adair, Muskogee, McIntosh, Sequoyah, Pittsburg, Haskell, Latimer and LeFlore, Pushmataha. Choctaw, Osage and Washington. And in Arkansas: Benton, Carroll, Washington, Madison, Crawford, Franklin and Sebastian.

Extreme cold warning remains in effect until noon Monday.

Dangerous cold wind chills from 10 to 20 below are expected. Wind chills that low could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

Do not spend extra time in the cold. Wear layers of warm clothes, a hat, and gloves.

Check on older family, friends,and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly.
