Norma Jean Easley service planned

Norma Jean Easley, 83, of Poteau passed away on Jan. 26, 2026, in Heavener.

Funeral service is Monday at 1 p.m. at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with James Easley officiating. Burial will follow at Wister City Cemetery, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Norma was born on Aug. 29, 1942, in Red Oak to Jane (Christopher) Bench and Clarence Bench. 

Norma had a deep love for children and babies and devoted her entire nursing career to caring for mothers and newborns in the OB Department at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau. Her compassion and dedication touched countless families over the years.

She especially cherished time spent vacationing with her grandchildren and found great joy in those moments together. Norma also loved bluegrass music and enjoyed listening to it whenever she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Easley; her son, Johnny Easley; two grandchildren Dillan Morris and Kyle Callahan; her sister, Marie Wilkes; and an infant brother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Kelly Callahan of Howe, and Patricia Hall and husband Craig of Heavener; her sons David Easley of Shady Point, Jason Easley of Shady Point, and Stacy Easley of Poteau; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and her sister, Janice Baker.

Norma will be remembered for her gentle heart, her devotion to family, and her lifelong calling to care for others.
