Sheila Elizabeth Henson Garrett, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
friend, passed away peacefully at home Aug. 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her
family. She was 79.
A memorial service celebrating Sheila’s life is 2 p.m. Saturday at Mallory-Martin Chapel in Spiro.
Born on March 8, 1946, at St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Sheila was the
daughter of Walter and Grace Henson. She grew up with a deep love for family and
community—values that guided her every step in life.
Sheila began her career as a beauty operator. Later, she spent 36 years serving the community
at Spiro Pharmacy. Sheila always went out of her way to help those she served, and unlike
most, loved working with the public.
Sheila’s proudest work was her family. She lovingly raised her daughters to become devoted
mothers themselves and cherished her role as an involved grandmother. She was a constant
presence in the lives of her grandsons, offering encouragement, joy, and unwavering love.
Christmas was always special at Meme’s house. Over the last few years, Sunday dinners
became important to her, and no matter what state the boys may be living in, they always made
a point to try to come together for Sunday dinners.
Sheila found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a good Hallmark movie (especially Christmas in July
marathons) and home decorating shows. Friends and family will fondly remember her ever-full
candy dishes of Bit O Honey and Werther’s candy that she always encouraged guests to “grab
a handful” before they left.
Sheila’s kindness, perseverance through years of health challenges, and loving spirit touched
countless lives. She had a gift for making people feel special and valued. Her faith was
important to her, and she loved attending services at Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church while
she was able to.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Don Garrett; her daughter, Nicole Garrett and
partner Paula Shannon; her grandsons Jaxton Garrett-Spring, Boone Garrett-Spring, Jalen
Cloud, and Kaeden Cloud and wife, Hailey; and her great-grandson, Aubrey Cloud, who she
absolutely adored. She is also remembered with love by extended family and friends who will
forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Sheila was preceded in death by her daughter, English Garrett Cloud; her parents, Walter and
Grace Henson; her brothers, Burl Henson and Carl Henson; and her sisters Ruth Smith and
Phyllis Lovett.
The family extends their deep gratitude to the Complete OK Hospice nurses and staff for their
compassionate care during Sheila’s final months.
Sheila’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and grace. Her presence made the world sweeter, and
her absence will be deeply felt.
