OSSAA approves shot clock

OSSAA approves shot clock for 2026-2027 basketball season in a 11-3 vote for Classes 3A and up. The smaller classes can use shot games in non-playoff games if approved by the NFHS.

This decision comes as the OSSAA approves shot clock rules aimed at enhancing the pace of the game.

The OSSAA approves shot clock implementation to modernize the game and keep up with evolving basketball standards.

The board approved the vote by an 11-3 vote. The shot clock will be 35 seconds. Earlier, the OSSAA Basketball Advisory Committee unanimously approved a recommendation to implement shot clocks for all classifications with the Oklahoma Interscholastic Athletic Administration also voicing its support.
