Poteau defeats Wister in the LCT winners bracket finals Thursday night, 2-0, as the Pirates won their17th-straight game.

Pirates edge Wildcats in LCT
The win sends Poteau to the LCT championship as the Pirates attempt to win the LCT for the first time since 2019.
The Pirates will now play the winner of an elimination game Friday between Wister and Talihina, which will be played at Panama at 4 p.m. Poteau plays the winner of that game at 6 p.m.
Poteau only needs one more win while the Wister and Talihina winner would need to beat the Pirates twice to capture the LCT.
The Pirates scored two runs in the first inning and made it hold up against the Wildcats. Easton Turnipseed singled to right, then advanced to third as Zaden Pennington singled on a bunt. Ben Dacus grounded out, allowing Turnipseed to score the first run before Ethan Thornburg got on by an error, which allowed Pennington to score the second run.
Caden Mitchell got the win, going five innings, allowing only two hits with six strikeouts and four walks. Turnipseed got the save, going the final two innings and allowing only one hit with two strikeouts and a walk.
Turnipseed led the Pirates at the plate, going 2-3 with a run scored as Poteau only had three hits.
Dax Hendrix took the loss for Wister, going the distance and allowing only the two runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Preston Perez led Wister’s offense, going 2-3.

Talihina, which is coached by former Wister Coach John Paul McAlester, made the biggest run through the losers bracket. The Golden Tigers knocked off top-seeded Cameron, 4-0, in their opener before staying alive with a 14-7 victory over Panama to move into Friday’s game against Wister.
Talihina is 2-0 this season against the Wildcats.
