By CRAIG HALL
The other day, I wrote a brilliant proposal on how to save Class 2A-1 in football. You can read it HERE.
It was so brilliant, I thought I would hear something from the OSSAA praising my initiative and thanking me for help.
Or at least Gov. Stitt.
But surprisingly, nothing happened. I don’t know if it was because it was a dumb idea, as if, I did a poor job marketing it, or the OSSAA has better things to do instead of reading my columns on football and other sports.
Since, that didn’t happen. I am going to explore putting Class 2A back together and eliminating that dumb Division I and Division II. I think it’s dumb and results in too much traffic for 2A, along with A and B.
Last year, Heavener visited Kiefer in the ninth game of the season. For those of you who are unaware where Kiefer is located, it is a suburb of Tulsa, near Glenpool, Bixby and Jenks.
During our drive to Kiefer, we passed by six Class 2A schools we didn’t play because of that silly Class 2A division decision. Say that quick.
If we had never divided 2A up into two divisions, our trips would be much better. We have already been to Prague this year, for the first time in 54 years, play at Kingston this week, go to Okmulgee the following week and travel to Bethel for the last game of the season.
What do we have in common with those schools? Nothing.
So instead of the silliness that currently prevails in Class 2A, I am going to fix it. For free. No charge. Thanks are expected and encouraged.
Instead of the eight team districts, we are staying with four team districts, like it was back when the Craigman played. You know, the good old days. We really do not need eight-team districts, as it makes travel worse even with only one Class 2A.

There are 62 teams in Class 2A, no clue why there aren’t 64. We are going to kick the private schools out, just like the OSSAA would if they had any you-know-what, let’s just call it backbone because we are a family publication. That drops Class 2A schools to 56.
So 55 teams divided by four equals 13 four-team districts and one three-team district.
I am going to try to group those four-team districts geographically, but I might mess up some of the schools out west, as if this is important. There are seven sections with two districts in each one. Only two teams out of a district advance to the playoffs. With the winners playing the second round for the section championship.
And yes, just like I wrote the other day, the same districts would stay the same in basketball, baseball, softball and all of our other fine sports.

Now, I realize there might be some teams grouped in the wrong area and for that, I apologize. Deeply. But you know what happens, at times. Now, if only we can start a movement. We should not be driving three and a half hours for a district game. Now, a playoff game is okay, but not a district contest.
