Read more: Storm causes damage in HeavenerA small summer storm popped up Monday afternoon, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rain.
The wind caused trees and branches to be blown down all over town and left residents without power in the hot temperatures until after 9 p.m. Monday night.
One house on the east side of Heavener, shown in the accompanying picture, suffered damage when the wind blew over a tree, which crashed into a power pole, knocking it over and into the house, damaging the roof, breaking a window, knocking down a chain-link fence and leaving electric lines down in the yard.
While the storm brought heavy rains to Heavener, rain did not even seem to hit areas to the north, including Morris Creek Bridge, barely over two miles north.
City crews were working to remove trees and branches from the roads while OG&E cruised the town roads to find the source of the damage to the power lines.
