As vice chair of the House Agriculture Committee, I attended an interim study last week on the subject of water. Turns out this wasn’t just about any water. It targeted Southeast Oklahoma water. Those who live in the western part of the state want it.

I toured the Sallisaw Veterans Center last week with James Bynum, the executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs. It’s a spacious, beautiful facility with large private rooms and bathrooms, wide hallways and nice amenities.

Last week, I presented citations to Candice Hamilton and Tori Lopez. Both are LeFlore County 911 Center dispatchers who answered the call April 19 from Wister Police Chief William “Andy” Thompson after he was shot in an ambush.

I delivered 65 cases of water to all the fire departments in my district last week, a way to show my appreciation for all of the firefighters who have been out in the extreme heat fighting multiple fires.

I spent a few days last week visiting schools in House District 3 passing out copies of the U.S. Constitution for every eighth-grade student. I visited schools in Arkoma, Cameron, Heavener, Hodgen, Howe, Monroe, Panama, Pocola, Poteau, Shady Point, Spiro and Wister.
