The Lady Tigers blistered the nets in a 75-50 victory while Talihina’s boys rallied in the second half to down the Wolves, 41-32.

Heavener visits Stigler Friday in another conference game while Talihina hosts Vian in conference games Thursday.

Girls

In Talihina’s previous two games against Heavener this year, the outcomes were close.

That wasn’t the case Tuesday as Talihina was hot early in building a 16-4 advantage after the first quarter and hit seven 3-point baskets in the first half and 12 overall to run away from Heavener.

The Lady Wolves cut the deficit to 44-40 in the third quarter before Talihina got its offense ramped up again.

Abigail James paced Talihina (now 9-8) with 22 points, Raelea Johnson scored 21 and Sarah James had 11.

Freshman Anistyn Cartwright led Heavener (9-10) with 13 points and Jaiklyn Rogers added 12.

Boys

Unlike the earlier contest, the boys did not come close to putting on an offensive show.

With the game close in the third quarter, Talihina’s Cy Ammons scored 11 straight points for the Golden Tigers while Heavener was held to two points to give his team the lead.

Heavener’s offense rallied to tie the score at 27 and trailed only 34-32 with 3:28 left after a 3 from Brecken Barnes before Talihina scored the final seven points, helped by going 5-6 on free throws in the final 1:07 to seal the win.

Talihina, now 9-4, and coming off a second-place finish in the LCT only three days before, was led by Ammons with 21 points. Heavener, now 7-11, failed to have a player score in double figures.
