Unemployment rates rise in Oklahoma

Unemployment rates were higher in 73 counties in Oklahoma in September, lower in three counties and stayed the same in one county in the latest report by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission.

Love County posted the highest rate at 5.5 percent and Seminole County was second. Texas County had the lowest rate at 1.9 percent for the month.

LeFlore County’s rate was 4.3 percent while it was 3.9 percent the previous September. LeFlore County had a rate of 4.2 percent in August and 4.1 percent in July.

The county had a work force of 19,819 for the month with 18,972 employed and 847 out of work. In August, the total work force was 19,634 with 18,817 employed and 817 unemployed.

LeFlore County had the 61st highest rate for the month.
