There were winners in Thursday’s games, but the weather trumps the remainder of the basketball LeFlore County Tournament.
The finals have been moved to Jan. 31, still at Spiro.
Friday’s schedule was also changed to try and get the games in before the storm hits this evening bringing everything with it aside from the kitchen sink.
The fifth-place games will now start at noon with Heavener taking on Whitesboro before Heavener’s boys take on Panama at 1:30 p .m.
The first boys’ semifinal between Howe and Talihina will be played around 3 p.m. The second semifinal between Pocola and Poteau will tip off around 4:30 p.m.
Howe’s girls advanced to the championship game for the 11st straight year and the Lady Lions are looking for their first championship since 2023 after a 57-22 win over Talihina.
Howe’s opponent in the championship game will be Panama, which edged Spiro, 64-57 in the other semifinal game. This will be the Panama girls’ first appearance in the championship game since the Lady ‘Backs defeated Talihina to win the title, 57-53
In Thursday’s consolation championships, the LeFlore girls beat Pocola, 37-29, before Cameron boys captured the other consolation championship with a 62-58 win over Wister.
