Wister slowed Poteau’s run through the 2026 baseball LCT Friday with a 6-1 win over the Pirates, forcing another game at noon Saturday to decide the championship.

Poteau came into Friday’s game undefeated and on a 17-game winning streak, but could manage only one hit against Wister pitchers Ethan Billy and Bruce Burns.
Billy pitched 4.1 innings and allowed the one hit while giving up one run with six strikeouts and four walks. Burns pitched the final 2.2 innings, allowing no hits or runs while striking out five with no walks.

The Wildcats broke the 0-0 tie by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and adding two more in the top of the fifth.
Poteau scored its one run in the bottom of the fifth before Wister shut down the Pirates’ rally.
Turner Wooten was 2-3 with two runs while Cade Branscum finished 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI to lead the Wildcats.
Brody Wood took the loss for Poteau. He threw four innings, giving up seven hits and four runs, all earned, with three strikeouts and two walks. Will Jordan pitched the final three innings for the Pirates, allowing two hits and two runs with two strikeouts and one walk.
Easton Turnipseed had Poteau’s only hit, going 1-2 with a RBI.
Wister advanced to the championship game by defeating Talihina, 6-5. earlier in the day for the Wildcats’ first win of the season against the Golden Tigers after losing two prior games.
