Billy Adrean was elected Heavener’s new mayor in Tuesday’s election, garnering 85 votes while opponent Sonya Nix collected 71.

Billy Adrean electedResults for all of Tuesday’s races are unofficial until they are certified by the Oklahoma Election Board.

Adrean, a Farmers Insurance agency owner in Poteau, finished with 54.4 percent of the voting while Nix, a preacher at the Altar Church and owner of the Good News Café in Heavener won 45.5 percent.

A proposition to raise sales tax to help EMS buy new equipment, a new ambulance and help with expenses passed 1,867 (60.4 percent) to 1,222 (39.5)

The result means LeFlore County residents are now paying sales tax for the county jail, Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center and EMS.

In voting for councilmember seats, in Poteau in Ward 1, Seat 1, former Heavener resident and graduate Gwenda Taylor collected 442 votes compared to 341 for Tommy G. Robertson and 62 for Jim Davis.

In voting for Ward No. 2, Seat 1, former Poteau fire chief Jon Pickel defeated Jim Holstead. Pickel collected 627 votes (74.5 percent) while Holstead received 214 votes (25.4 percent).

In the vote for Ward 4, Seat 1, Jarrod Ridenour received 439 votes (52.0 percent, Misty Riley got 251 (29.7 percent) and Winford Wimp Webb finished with 154 (18.2 percent).

In voting for office No. 5 on the Panama School Board, Richard Cheely received 307 votes (68.6 percent) while challenger Tommy Caldwell finished with 140 (31.3 percent).

In voting for school board in Pocola office No. 5, Ronnie Joe Piovesan received 140 votes ( 59.8 percent while former county official Gaylon E. Freeman received 94 votes (40.1 percent).

Donna G. Martin received 25 votes (38.8 percent) in an election to the board of trustees in Arkoma. Jonathan Thornburg finished with 29 (32.2 percent) and Alex McElmore had 26 votes (28.8 percent). The voting was to elected two people to the board of trustees.

Bokoshe was voting for three candidates to the board of trustees. Doyle Martin received the most votes with 31, Alexandria Koch had 29, Wayne A. Brown had 25, Ronald Ward had 22, Jerry D. Brasier finished with 21, Samantha Whitecotton had 20 and Paula Jones received 16.

Talihina was voting for three candidates to the board of trustees. Ross Green II finished with 50 votes, Louisa Lawrence had 48, Nikki J. Hibdon 45 and Anita Duncan 42.

Wister voted for two members of the board of trustees. Carol DeWitt finished with 87 votes, DeWade Shatswell had 78 and Carla Pride had 58.

Also in Wister, for voting for the Wister School board office No. 5, Ryan Higdon finished with 195 votes compared to 99 for Robert B. Martin.
