Carol Jean Putman of Heavener was born on Sept. 3, 1948 in Bowie, Texas to Walter Lee Morris and Ezellian Sally Ann (May) Pitt and passed away on May 3, 2026 in Heavener at the age of 77.

Carol was a longtime resident of the area and was a dedicated tax consultant. Outside of her work, Carol had a passion for raising goats, which brought her joy and connection to nature. She also enjoyed thrift shopping and pampering herself with regular visits to the nail salon.
Carol found immense happiness in watching her great-grandchildren engage in various activities, and she cherished the time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, always ready with a warm smile and a listening ear. Her kindness, generosity, and love for those around her made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Carol will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Survivors are her children Cathy Janway and husband Nathan of Heavener, Cody Putman of the Big Cedar community, and Ellis Hicks of Hot Springs, Arkansas; her grandchildren Taylor Melton and husband Stephen of Burleson, Texas, Cody Putman Jr. of the Big Cedar community, Nikki Putman of Shady Point, Cheyann Cullers and husband Cyle of Wister, Hunter Gandy of Panama, and Ashley Hicks of Cleburne, Texas; numerous great-grandchildren; cousins Janice Divine of Aztec, New Mexico,
Jerie Ruebush of Gentry, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Zell Pitt; her father, Walter Morris; her step-father, H.B. Pitt; Her ex-husband, Freddy Wayne; and two cousins Kathy Hand and Paula McFarland.
Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Cody Putman, Nathan Janway, Cyle Cullers, Cody Putman, Jr., Hunter Gandy and Stephen Melton.
