Christine Lannette Gregory obituary

Christine Lannette Gregory of Howe was born Dec.19, 1946, in the Forrester community in Heavener to Carl and Hazel (Thomas) McClain and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 21, 2026, surrounded by her family in Howe at the age of 79.

Funeral service is 2 p.m., Saturday at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joe Ray, Reverend Larry Stacy, and Reverend Keno King officiating. Burial will follow in Heavener Memorial Park, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.

Christine was a longtime resident of the area and a 1966 graduate of Heavener High School. She worked for many years as a cook at the Poteau Nutrition Center, where she enjoyed serving others, until her retirement.

Christine was a devoted member of Springhill Baptist Church, where her strong Christian faith was an important part of her life. She was actively involved in the church and could often be found helping in the kitchen, preparing meals for church gatherings and special occasions. Christine had a servant’s heart and found great joy in helping others. Her faith guided the way she lived her life, and she shared God’s love through her kindness, generosity, and care for those around her.

In her spare time, Christine enjoyed arts and crafts, working word-search puzzles, and spending time with others. Above all, she dearly loved her family. Family gatherings held a special place in her heart, and she treasured every opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved.

Christine truly enjoyed people and had a special way of spreading love and kindness wherever she went. Her strong faith, loving heart, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family, church family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors are one daughter Carla Terry and husband Chris of Howe; her grandchild Lane Terry and wife Rebecca of Howe; one brother Ed McClain and wife Ella Mae of the Coaldale community; her great-grandchildren Carson Hamlin, Rhett Terry, Adlynn Terry, Willow Terry and Lillian Terry; numerous other loved ones and many friends who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Hazel McClain; her grandson, Linn Terry; and three brothers Bill McClain, Jerry McClain, and Merle McClain.

Pallbearers are Lane Terry, Tim McClain, Scott McClain, David McClain and Rodney McClain.

Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Ray, Tyler Ray, Ryan Ray and Wes Wickware.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. The family will visit with friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
