Updated district standings, scores and schedules for football districts involving Heavener, Panama, Pocola, Poteau, Spiro and Talihina after Week 8 games.
The biggest game involving a LeFlore County team in Week 9 features undefeated Talihina visiting Regent Prep in District A-II-3. Both teams are 8-0 overall and 5-0 in district play.
The winner takes control of the district championship race, while the loser would finish second unless upset in Week 10. Talihina closes at home against Liberty, while Regent Prep visits Drumright.
Liberty is third, while Drumright, Central and Gore are tied for fourth.
Central closes with games at Mounds and against Porter. Gore hosts Porter and Mounds, while Drumright hosts Liberty and Regent Prep.
District 4A-4
Ada’s trip to Broken Bow is the district’s key Week 9 matchup. Broken Bow is second at 4-1 in district play, while Ada, Stilwell and Poteau are tied for third at 3-2.
Poteau visits McLain Thursday before closing at home against district-leading Sallisaw.
Stilwell hosts Ada in Week 10 in another game that could help determine playoff positioning.
District 2A-I-3
Lincoln Christian leads the district at 5-0, with Sequoyah-Tahlequah second at 4-1.
Checotah, Hugo and Victory Christian are tied for third at 3-2, while Roland remains in contention at 2-3.
Hugo finishes against Lincoln Christian and Checotah. Victory Christian hosts Heavener this week before closing against Sequoyah-Tahlequah.
Checotah hosts Roland in Week 9 before visiting Hugo in Week 10.
District A-I-4
Panama, Pocola and Coalgate are tied for first at 4-1 after Coalgate defeated Vian.
If all three win in Week 9, Panama’s visit to Pocola in Week 10 will be central to the championship race.
Pocola holds the head-to-head advantage over Coalgate and can secure the district championship by winning its final two games.
A Panama victory over Pocola could create a three-way tie if Coalgate also wins out. Coalgate defeated Panama, while Pocola defeated Coalgate, so that scenario would require a tiebreaker to determine the final order.
Vian and Haskell are tied for fourth and meet at Haskell in Week 9. Haskell closes against Coalgate in Week 10.
Hulbert is one game behind Vian and Haskell. The Riders have lost to Haskell and finish against Coalgate and Vian.
