Heavener visits Checotah in the District 2A-I-3 opener for both teams Friday night.
It will be the first time the two teams have played since 2013 as the Wildcats are dropping from Class 3A to 2A for the next two seasons.
Heavener’s last win in the brief series Checotah leads 5-2, was a 44-12 win in 1965, some 61 years ago.
The Wolves enter district play 1-3, coming off a bye. In Heavener’s last game, the Wolves defeated Panama, 48-7. Checotah is 3-0 and has not scored fewer than 51 points in a game this season.
