Heavener wins big at Muldrow cross country meet

MULDROW – Heavener‘s cross country teams enjoyed a successful day Thursday at the Muldrow meet, winning three team championships.

The high school Wolves and both junior high teams captured meet titles.

Heavener’s high school boys were led by Geren Palmer, who finished third, just ahead of fourth-place finisher Morgan Altstatt. Martin Vasquez placed eighth, Jerred Boss was ninth and Diego Cruz finished 10th. Slayde Cockburn also earned a medal.

For the high school Lady Wolves, Kanan Summers celebrated her birthday by earning a medal.

The junior high Wolves won their division behind Ethan Anderson’s first-place finish. Adair Hernandez and Alvaro Vasquez also earned medals, while Bryan Martinez and Constantine Kincaid contributed points.

The junior high Lady Wolves also captured a team championship, led by Sharlie Steelman. Josie Ellis, Diana Martinez, Milly Harp and Ada Evans also contributed points.

Heavener returns to action Monday at the Spiro meet before hosting its own meet Oct. 8.
