Help Heavener.news cover your community better

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Help Heavener.news and our newsletter cover your community better — we want a correspondent in every LeFlore County community.

Don’t think your community gets enough coverage? Here’s your chance to solve that.

We are looking for one person in Arkoma, Bokoshe, Cameron, LeFlore, Panama, Pocola, Poteau, Spiro, Talihina, Whitesboro and Wister to be the go-to person for news in their town.

No journalism experience is necessary — and you don’t need a fancy camera either. If you have a cell phone, you have everything you need to take photos for your stories.

Here’s what we’re looking for: someone who will keep an eye out for city council and school board meeting agendas, either posting them to Heavener.news or forwarding them to us at news@heavener.news, then attending those meetings and sending us a short summary and photo of what happened. We handle the editing and publishing. Your name goes on every story.

Beyond meetings, if something is happening in your community — a business opening, a community event, a local milestone — we want to know about it. You know your town better than anyone. That’s exactly why we want you.

This is your chance to make sure your community has a voice in LeFlore County’s news. Local news only works when locals are involved, and Heavener.news has been proving that since 2009.

If you’re interested in being your community’s correspondent, email Craig Hall at news@heavener.news.

News, daily weather, sports, obituaries, and local history — all free in your inbox every morning. Join readers across LeFlore County who start their day with us.
