HOWE — The Howe Board of Trustees will convene for its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening, tackling an agenda highlighted by proposed reciprocal fire protection pacts with neighboring departments, annual operational schedules for 2027, and pending legal matters.
The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Howe City Hall.
A key item before trustees is the consideration of reciprocal mutual-aid agreements between the Town of Howe Volunteer Fire Department and both the Heavener Volunteer Fire Department and Monroe Volunteer Fire Department. If approved, the agreements will establish formal support and shared emergency assistance during major fire emergencies across the area.
Looking ahead to next year’s operational schedule, the board will vote on setting its 2027 meeting dates, municipal court dates, and recognized town employee holidays.
In other business, trustees will consider approval of routine purchase orders, monthly financial reports, and a proposed $1,000 budget for the upcoming seasonal “Howe-liday” community festivities. The board is also slated to act on an equipment repair expenditure, reviewing a $609.59 quote from Red’s Premier Outdoor Equipment to service a town lawnmower.
Department head reports from the maintenance, fire, and police departments will lead off the meeting following the call to order and roll call. The board comprises Chairman James Phillips, Matthew Miller, Steven Parsons, and Les Pierce.
Following routine business and public comments under New Business, trustees are scheduled to vote on entering executive session with the town attorney. The closed-door discussion is requested under Title 25 O.S. § 307(B)(4) of the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act regarding Case No. CV-2026-175, with potential action to follow once the board returns to open session.
Persons with disabilities who require special accommodations to participate are asked to contact the city clerk as soon as possible ahead of the meeting.
