POTEAU — The LeFlore County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to lift the countywide burn ban during their regular business meeting Monday morning at the county courthouse.
The motion to lift the ban was introduced by Commissioner Josh Blaylock, seconded by Vice-Chair Mike Parker, and approved by all three commissioners, providing relief to rural landowners and outdoor workers following recent rain across southeastern Oklahoma.
Chairman Jamie Oliver presided over the November 2 meeting alongside Parker, Blaylock, and County Clerk Kelli Ford.
Beyond lifting the burn restriction, the board approved several financial reports, routine highway operations, and infrastructure permits:
- County Finances & Financial Audits: Commissioners approved the 2026 fiscal year financial statements and explanatory footnotes presented by LeFlore County Treasurer April Caughern, as well as the Treasurer’s Monthly Report of Officers for October 2026. Monthly fee reports submitted by County Clerk Kelli Ford and the LeFlore County Health Department were also approved.
- Highway & Road Operations: The board passed a formal resolution setting the maximum monthly highway expenditures for November 2026 to govern ongoing county road maintenance.
- Transfers of Appropriations: Two appropriation transfers were approved:
- $13,862.52 from the FDWIS-2R Lease/Rental account to the FDWIS-2 Maintenance & Operations (M&O) account.
- $25,000 from the A-2 District Attorney General account to the R-2 General M&O account.
- Surplus Equipment: The board declared surplus and authorized disposal of a county-owned Garmin Tread Overland Edition GPS unit (valued at $1,299.99 when purchased in July 2022) previously assigned to the County Assessor’s office.
- Telecommunications Right-of-Way Permits: The commissioners approved a slate of 18 floodplain development permit applications submitted by ACRS Telecommunications Engineering. The permits grant right-of-way construction across multiple sections in Commissioner District 3 (Townships 4N and 5N, Ranges 26E and 27E) to facilitate regional utility and fiber-optic work.
The board also approved standard purchase orders and the previous meeting’s minutes before adjourning. Complete recordings and records of the meeting discussion remain available through the LeFlore County Clerk’s office.
