LeFlore County will have another scorcher today. The forecast calls for a high of 102 degrees after an overnight low of 74, along with just a slight chance for a stray shower.
For Sept. 6, that is well above our normal high of 87 and normal low of 60. In fact, if we hit that forecast mark, we’ll top the record high of 100 degrees set back in 1983. The record low for today, by the way, was a brisk 39 degrees in 1974.
Yesterday didn’t offer any relief either, topping out at 103 degrees after a morning low of 74. We still haven’t seen a drop of rain so far this month—and with our normal September rainfall sitting at 5.3 inches, we’ve got quite a bit of ground to make up.
