Lois Mae Smedley, 87, of Poteau, passed away May 14, 2026, in Poteau. She was born Nov. 24, 1938, in Lovings, to Early Blufford Churchill and Willie (Cline) Churchill.
A funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Evans Chapel of Memories in Poteau with Phil McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau. Viewing and visitation is Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her son, Brian Smedley; grandchildren, Tammy Attaway, Sarah Martin, and Shannon Smedley; great-grandchildren Taylor, Isaac, Isabelle, and Isaiah; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James L. Smedley; three brothers, Clinton Churchill, Clifford Churchill, and Bobby Churchill; and five sisters, Violet Adair, Irene Tedder, Marjorie McGuffin, Wilma Prince, and Gladys Fessler.
Pallbearers are Scott Martin, Vance Smedley, and Loney Gregory. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Smedley, Larry Gregory, and Doug Gregory.
