One dead, two injured in Highway 259 crash

A Honobia woman died and two passengers were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 259 at Zafra Road near Octavia, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, troopers said. A preliminary OHP report shows the driver of Unit 1 was headed south on U.S. 259 and attempted to pass another vehicle as the driver of Unit 2 was turning onto Zafra Road. Unit 1 struck Unit 2, overturned and ejected the driver and one passenger.

The driver of Unit 1, identified as Chelsea A. Patterson, 37, of Honobia, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in her vehicle were injured and taken to the hospital. Troopers said seatbelts were not in use by the occupants of Unit 1.

The driver of Unit 2, Deonta E. Robertson, 27, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, was not injured. Troopers said Robertson was driving a commercial motor vehicle and was wearing a seatbelt. He had no passengers.
