Pocola man sentenced June 10 to life without parole, following a jury trial earlier this month on charges that he molested a 13-year-old girl in May 2023.
A jury of six men and six women deliberated for almost two hours before convicting Paul Adolf Dreamer, Sr., 64, of one count of lewd molestation.
After finding Dreamer guilty, the jury recommended he receive the harshest penalty under Oklahoma law, life without parole in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Prior to facing a jury last week, Dreamer was convicted in 2011 of six counts of sexual assault in Clark County, Arkansas.
Shortly after 1 p.m., Dreamer stood before Associate District Judge Marion D. Fry in an orange jumpsuit on the second floor of the LeFlore County Courthouse. Within minutes he learned his fate when Fry sentenced him in accordance with the jury’s recommendation.
The sentence means Dreamer will never be paroled.
LeFlore County First Assistant District Attorney Sarah Jordan presented and argued the case on behalf of the State of Oklahoma, but she was quick to praise others who worked so hard to ensure Dreamer was held accountable.
The Pocola Police Department, District 16 District Attorney’s Office Investigator Michael Oliver and the Advocacy Center for Children in Galveston County, Texas were instrumental in the prosecution’s case, Jordan explained.
“The conviction in this case was the result of multiple agencies coming together to make sure the jury heard sufficient facts and enough information to put Dreamer behind bars for the rest of his life,” she said. “Frankly, it’s what he deserved.”
Following sentencing, District 16 District Attorney Kevin Merritt rendered his thoughts on the investigation and trial.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome in this case,” Merritt explained. “Sarah is an outstanding child crimes prosecutor and Michael is a top notch investigator. They were fully committed to this case for several weeks and aggressively fought to obtain justice for the victim. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
