SAN ANTONIO — Victor Wembanyama scored 33 points and the San Antonio Spurs dominated from wire to wire, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-82 Sunday night at Frost Bank Center to even the Western Conference Finals at 2-2.
The Spurs led after every quarter — 28-19, 50-38, 78-60 — and built a lead as large as 25 points, never allowing OKC to gain any momentum. San Antonio’s defense held the Thunder to just 33% shooting from the field and 18.2% from three.
Wembanyama was the story again, shooting 11-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-7 from three, and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. He added eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks in one of his most complete performances of the postseason.
Stephon Castle was sharp in support, finishing with 13 points on 45% shooting with six assists and just one turnover. De’Aaron Fox added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and ran the offense with control all night.
For Oklahoma City, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 19 points and seven assists but committed four turnovers and finished minus-18. The Thunder’s bench — which had been the story of Game 3 with 76 points — was held to just 34 Sunday night. Jared McCain, who exploded for 24 in Game 3, shot 1-of-10 and finished with just four points. Isaiah Hartenstein was OKC’s most consistent player with 12 points and seven rebounds.
OKC committed 20 turnovers that led to 27 San Antonio points, while the Thunder’s biggest lead all night was just one point.
Game 5 is Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. CDT at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City on NBC. OKC holds a 64% win probability. The series is tied 2-2.
