Strong storms possible today; wet week ahead for LeFlore County

LeFlore County is facing a potentially active weather week, with the best chances for significant rainfall arriving today and continuing through Wednesday.

A 75% chance of rain is in the forecast for today, with a high near 86 degrees. Strong winds and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening — residents should monitor conditions and have a plan if severe weather develops.

The wet pattern continues Tuesday with another 75% chance of rain and a high near 75 degrees, followed by Wednesday at 70% and a high near 75. Conditions begin to gradually improve Thursday, with rain chances dropping to 45% and a high of about 75. Friday brings the driest day of the stretch — a 40% chance of rain with highs returning to near 81 degrees.

Residents in low-lying areas and near area creeks should be aware that repeated rainfall through midweek could lead to elevated water levels. Monitor the live weather radar on Heavener.news for real-time conditions.
