Fall 2026 through spring 2027 severe weather climate outlook

As we move through fall 2026 and look ahead toward winter and spring 2027, severe weather will remain something to watch across Heavener and LeFlore County. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are all possible during this period. While spring remains the traditional focus for severe weather in eastern Oklahoma, strong storm systems can also produce severe thunderstorms during the fall and winter months.
LeFlore County weather forecast for the week ahead
A heat advisory is in effect for LeFlore County through 8 p.m. Sunday as dangerously hot conditions continue, with highs climbing well into triple digits by midweek and little to no rain chance through the period.
Extended heat wave holds through next week
Southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas remain locked in a stretch of dangerous summer heat, with highs holding near or above 100 degrees through the middle of next week. The only real relief comes Friday, when a system drops temperatures into the low 90s and brings the best rain chance of the stretch, before the heat rebuilds and climbs even higher into the following week.
