Talihina Pocola lead LeFlore County football scoring

Talihina and Pocola lead LeFlore County in most points scored and fewest points allowed through three games.

All the LeFlore County teams open district play Friday. Heavener (1-2) visits Checotah (3-0), which has scored at least 51 points in all three games this year; Poteau hosts Mannford (3-0), the new kid on the block as this is Mannford’s first game as a member of District 4A-4 after moving up from 3A last year; Spiro (0-3) makes the long drive to Hugo (2-1) as the Bulldogs attempt to win their first game after 15 straight losses; Panama (0-3) visits Hulbert (2-1); Pocola (2-1) opens at Vian (1-2), which has had an unusual slow start before pounding Muldow; and Talihina (3-0) hosts Mounds (1-2).

Talihina has the leading offense, scoring 50.0 points per game, including 61 two weeks ago against defending Arkansas 3A champion Mansfield. Poteau has the second leading offense at 23.6 points per game while Heavener and Pocola are tied for third at 23.3 points per game.

Defensively, Pocola allows the fewest points per game through three games. The Indians allow only 16.6 points per game while Heavener is second at 21.6 points per game.
