Talihina completed a perfect run through the Golden Tigers’ non-district slate with a 46-0 win over Broken Bow’s junior varsity team Thursday night. Talihina, now 3-0, opens district play next week at Allen.

Poteau, also undefeated at 3-0, has a bye this week and opens district play at home next week against Stilwell.

There are several intriguing matchups for Friday. The biggest game has undefeated Pocola visiting Vian. Pocola is 2-0 while the Wolverines are 1-1 after dropping a game to Kiefer last week. The two teams feature potent offenses so it could be another offensive slugout.

Panama also tries to stay perfect when the Razorbacks visit an undefeated Wilburton team. Wilburton has struggled to pick up wins for year, but has defeated Gore to open the season and then topped Hartshorne last week in the Diggers’ biggest rivalry game. Panama has wins over Spiro and Heavener.

Heavener (0-2) is looking for its first win and it will not be an easy one as the Wolves entertain Charleston, Arkansas, which is already 3-0 and is picked as one of the favorites to win state. The Tigers won in a blowout home in Charleston last year and will look to repeat that success in its first visit to Harvey Stadium.

Spiro lost to a pair of Class A teams to start the season in Panama and Pocola, now steps up a class looking for its first win when the Battle of the Bulldogs renews as Spiro visits Class 3A Muldrow, which is off to a 2-0 start.

The other game involving a LeFlore County team this week has Bowlegs visiting Arkoma. Bowlegs is 0-2 while Arkoma enters the contest 1-2 after picking up the Mustangs’ first win last week.

Other than Arkoma, the other county teams open district play next week.
