Back Forty Farm Supply now open in Heavener

Heavener residents needing farm supply equipment or feed, no longer have to go to Poteau, or even leave Heavener.

That’s because the Back Forty Farm Supply is now in operation in Heavener.

The store initially opened in 2005 in Waldron, Arkansas, before Brody Jones expanded the store into Heavener at 1000 West First Street in Heavener, offering cattle, horse, chicken, dog, cat feet, livestock mineral and tubs, vet products and expanding the inventory weekly.

Jones said if a product is needed and it isn’t available in Heavener, a customer can ask if it is available and if the product is available in the Waldron location, then he can bring it to the Heavener store.

Brian Jones, Brody’s father, started the business in 2005, focusing more on poultry equipment sales and doing service work for poultry farmers. He soon began growing into an all-around store, where you could come get hardware, plumbing supplies, electrical supplies, feed for all of your animals, request electrical service work and so much more.

As time went on and business grew, they moved to a larger location in 2017, where they have continued to grow and increased the inventory to better serve the customers.

Brody Jones graduated from Waldron High School in 2019 and moved to Russellville, Arkansas, where he attended Arkansas Tech University

“Although I have worked for companies like Walmart, JB Hunt, and even the USDA, nothing really excited me more than the thought of running my own business,” he said “So in 2024, I moved back home and started helping my dad manage the business.

The store’s phone number is (539) 220-3004. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

“Just a few short months ago, I decided I wanted to try and expand the business just like my dad had done many times before and I felt Heavener would be the perfect place,” Brody said. “Opening this location on Sept. 21 was daunting and challenging, but it has been worth it and we look forward to our future in Heavener.”
