Heat holds through Friday in LeFlore County

A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday for LeFlore County, with heat index values expected to reach up to 109 degrees. Hot, mostly dry conditions continue through Friday before a slightly cooler, drier stretch settles in for the weekend and into next week.

Today (Thursday): Mostly cloudy with a high near 97 and a low around 77. Chance of rain 45 percent.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a high near 100 and a low around 77. Chance of rain 15 percent.

Saturday: Clear skies with a high near 89 and a low around 67. No measurable rain expected.

Sunday: Mostly clear with a high near 92 and a low around 67. Chance of rain 5 percent.

Monday: Sunny with a high near 95 and a low around 68. No measurable rain expected.

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 97 and a low around 71. No measurable rain expected.

Wednesday: Sunny with a high near 98 and a low around 72. No measurable rain expected.

Wednesday’s high in Poteau was 101 with a low of 75. A total of .06 inches of rain was recorded, bringing the monthly total to 2.07 inches.

Average temperatures for July 30 are a high of 95 and low of 70. Records for the date were a high of 108 in 1986 and a low of 59 in 1994.
