Good Friday morning, LeFlore County! After a relatively quiet start to the week, our weather pattern is about to become a bit more active as we head into the weekend and beyond. Here is everything you need to know to plan your week ahead across Heavener, Poteau, and all of LeFlore County.
Today — Friday, April 17
We are starting the day off on a pleasant note with partly sunny skies and current temperatures sitting right around 68 degrees this afternoon. It is a beautiful spring day across the county with just a light chance of rain at around 10 percent — so most of us will stay dry throughout the day. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s, topping out near 80 degrees this afternoon, making it one of the warmer days of the week. If you have outdoor plans this evening — whether it is watching local sports, working in the garden, or just enjoying some time outside — today is your best bet. Winds will be out of the south keeping conditions comfortable throughout the afternoon and early evening hours.
Tonight expect temperatures to drop back into the mid to upper 50s overnight. Skies will remain mostly clear through the evening before clouds begin to increase late.
Saturday, April 18 — Cooler With Rain Possible
A noticeable change is coming for Saturday. A front will push through the area bringing cooler temperatures and an increased chance of showers. Highs on Saturday will only reach the lower 60s — a drop of nearly 20 degrees from Friday’s high — so if you are heading out to any Saturday morning events or activities make sure you grab a jacket. Rain chances will climb to around 20 percent during the day so a few showers are possible, particularly in the afternoon hours. It will not be an all day rain event but do not put the umbrella away just yet.
Saturday night will be cooler with lows dropping into the mid to upper 40s across the county.
Sunday, April 19 — Nice Rebound for Easter Sunday
Great news for Easter Sunday plans across LeFlore County — Sunday is shaping up to be a really nice day. Rain chances drop to zero percent and skies should clear out nicely giving us a pleasant spring Sunday. Temperatures will rebound back into the upper 60s with highs near 70 degrees. It will be an ideal day for Easter gatherings, outdoor activities, and family time. Enjoy it — it may be the nicest day of the entire week.
Monday, April 20 — Continued Pleasant Conditions
Monday continues the nice weather trend with mostly sunny skies and highs climbing back into the lower 70s. Rain chances remain low at just 10 percent making for another good day across the county. A light south wind will keep temperatures feeling comfortable throughout the day.
Tuesday, April 21 — Storm Chances Return
Attention LeFlore County — Tuesday is the day to watch this week. Rain chances jump significantly to 65 percent as another weather system moves into eastern Oklahoma. Highs on Tuesday will be near 69 degrees but the main story will be the potential for rain and possibly some thunderstorm activity during the afternoon and evening hours. The extended outlook for LeFlore County features a wet and active weather pattern with precipitation possible on multiple days. WeatherForYou Residents should keep an eye on the forecast as we get closer to Tuesday and stay weather aware throughout the day.
