Heavener.news is accepting nominations for the LeFlore County Athlete of the Week, a new feature recognizing outstanding performances by high school athletes throughout the county.
Athletes from all LeFlore County schools and sports are eligible for nomination.
Nominations may be submitted by coaches, parents, teammates, fans or other members of the community.
Each nomination should include:
- Athlete’s first and last name
- School and hometown
- Sport and position or event, if applicable
- Statistics and accomplishments from the past week
- A brief explanation of why the athlete deserves recognition
- Name and contact information of the person submitting the nomination
The deadline for nominations is Sunday at 7 p.m.
Nominations may be emailed to news@heavener.news or submitted through the Heavener.news Facebook page.
After nominations close, Heavener.news will review the submissions and narrow the field to five finalists based on their performances and accomplishments.
The five finalists will be announced on Heavener.news, where readers will have an opportunity to vote for their choice for LeFlore County Athlete of the Week.
The winner will be recognized in a feature on Heavener.news.
The new weekly award is designed to recognize the hard work and achievements of student-athletes from throughout LeFlore County while giving the community an opportunity to support its local athletes.
