Rick West recognizes Howe Lady Lions at State CapitolAfter facing a loss to Kingfisher in the Bertha Teague Classic in December, the Howe Lady Lions pushed through the rest of the season and won their last 21 games, including the Leflore Country Championship, the District Championship, the Regional Championship and the Area Championship.
The Lady Lions then continued in victory in their first round match up, semi-final match up, and ultimately won their final game for the 2026 2A State Championship title.
The Howe Lady Lions were led to victory by Head Coach Chris Brown and Assistant Coach Shawn Womack. This was Coach Brown’s fifth career State Championship, all of which have been won by the Howe Lady Lions.
Seniors Kadynce Delt, Slatey Jo Free and Josey Peterson were all honored as All-State athletes.
“It is my honor and my privilege to recognize this team for their accomplishments this season,” West said. “I know both of the coaches well. They can be very intense in their coaching, but they also care deeply for the well-being of their players. These coaches and players worked very hard this year, and are bound for success. I look forward to seeing them continue in victory next season.”
Rick West serves District 3 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes part of LeFlore County.
