The OU (26-12, 9-8) pitching staff of Cameron Johnson, Jason Bodin and Jackson Cleveland combined for the Sooners’ sixth shutout of the season, allowing the Tigers (20-19, 3-14) just two hits. Johnson moved to 5-1 on the season, going 5.1 scoreless innings of two-hit ball and fanning five while walking one.

The Sooner offense stayed hot with four extra-base hits on the day, including Deiten Lachance’s third home run of the season and third in the last six games.

OU got on the board in the second inning on Lachance’s homer to right center, before tripling the lead in the third on a Brendan Brock RBI single and Camden Johnson sacrifice fly.

To the fourth, a Jaxon Willits RBI double pushed the lead to 4-0.

The Tigers would put runners in scoring position across the fifth, sixth and seventh innings but the Sooner pitching staff would preserve the shutout. The OU defense turned a pair of double plays in the contest, pushing their season total to 33 with 19 coming in conference play, an SEC best.

Bodin went 2.2 innings of scoreless, hitless pitching with one strikeout and two walks, while Cleveland pitched the ninth and put Mizzou down in order with a pair of strikeouts.

The series victory moved OU to 4-2 in SEC series on the season. The Sooners go for the sweep Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
