
SHAWNEE—Wister rallied to defeat Cheyenne-Reardon, 4-3, in a Class A quarterfinal game at the state fast pitch softball tournament Thursday at the Firelake Ballpark in Shawnee.
The seventh-ranked Lady Wildcats improve to 27-9 while third-ranked Cheyenne-Reardon finishes, 30-8. Wister plays Okarche, ranked eighth in Class A, and 29-9 on the season in the semifinal game at 11 a.m. Friday.
Okarche defeated second-ranked Caddo, 10-4, in another quarterfinal game Thursday.
In Thursday’s game, Wister trailed by two runs before rallying to tie the score in the bottom of the seventh to force the game into extra innings. After holding Cheyenne-Reardon scoreless in the top of the eighth, the Lady Wildcats grabbed the win when Macy Wolf walked with one out in the eighth.
After a second out, Wolf advanced to third on a ground ball by Piper Griffis that was mishandled at first for an error. Alaina Pierce singled to left, bringing in Wolf with the winning run and sending Wister into the semifinals.
Adi Higdon went the distance to get the win for Wister. She pitched all eighth innings, giving up seven hits and three runs, two earned, with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
Pierce led Wister’s offensive attack, going 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored. Jackie Burns tripled while going 1-3 with a RBI.
