Emma Jean (Dodson) Williams obituary

Emma Jean (Dodson) Williams, 93, of Fanshawe was born March 12, 1933 in Coweta to Grover and Bessie Dodson and passed away on May 29, 2026.

Funeral service to honor Emma’s life is 2 p.m., Thursday at the Fanshawe Community of Christ Church, with Elder Sally McGowen officiating, under the direction and care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener.

Emma was united in marriage to Roger Delano Williams on April 19, 1952. Emma moved to Fanshawe from Broken Arrow in 1974.  She worked as a cook for Broken Arrow Public School and Fanshawe Public School and always enjoyed her time in the kitchen. She approached life with a cup of strong coffee and always had an open-door policy, sharing her home with family and friends. Emma enjoyed a good Hallmark movie, cooking meals, baking cookies for grandkids and gardening. Her legacy is a growing family tree that is deeply rooted in love.

Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law Roger Dale Williams and wife Loretha, Jimmy Williams and wife Lorna, and Tommy Williams and wife Marcella; one sister, Kathleen Riggins; six grandchildren and spouses Ryan Williams and wife Penny, Rachel Williams, David Williams and wife Tonya, Jeremy Williams and wife Amanda, Cindy Cook and husband Adam, James Williams and wife Carrie; 11 great-grandchildren Kinsley, Rylan, Aubrey, Mya, Matt, Christian, Branson, Sarah, Connor, Ava, and Delanie; one great-great-grandchild, Millie; numerous other loved ones and a host of many friends who loved Emma very much.

Emma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roger Delano Williams; eight brothers Abner, Albert, George, Elmer, G.L., Eulas, J.C., and Aaron; two sisters Maxine and Lorene; and one grandchild, Melissa.

Pallbearers are her grandsons.

Viewing is from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday and 9 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home.

The family will have visitation with friends on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home in Heavener.
