Southeastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas remain locked in a stretch of dangerous summer heat, with highs holding near or above 100 degrees through the middle of next week. The only real relief comes Friday, when a system drops temperatures into the low 90s and brings the best rain chance of the stretch, before the heat rebuilds and climbs even higher into the following week.
Wednesday’s high was 102 with a low of 77. No rain was recorded yesterday, or this month. Average rainfall for August is 3.10 inches.
Average temperatures for Aug. 6 are a high of 94 and low of 65. Records for the date were a high of 105 in 1970 and a low of 52 in 1973.
Thursday
High near 99, low around 77. Rain chance 5 percent. Another day of dangerous heat, with heat index values likely climbing well past 100 by afternoon.
